
Thanks to Training from Active Cumbria and DSActive who incorporated a specialised Module into the Walk Leaders Training, Cumbria Down's Syndrome support Group are Piloting a walking Scheme for people with Down's Syndrome and their families.
The Ramblers have been encouraging people to get out and get walking for many years, thanks to training from Active Cumbria Many groups across the region have succeeded in setting up regular walks.
Thanks to DSActive adding a training module specifically targeted at what additional needs somebody with Trisomy 21 may have and how best to manage situations, our Volunteers now feel confident in Leading Walks across Cumbria and beyond.
Our first Walk in this Pilot is on March 23rd at 1pm in Clapham Nature reserve.
We are joining Lancashire DS group and encouraging people to wear their Odd Socks for #WDSD19
The Parry Family Charitable Foundation have kindly donated funds so that we can purchase equipment for our Walk Leaders.
